I am no good at cards. I sent out one when my oldest was a newbie. And, then never again. Do I even have addresses of people who would get the cards? I don’t know. It’s easy to forget that not everybody follows along online. But, you do. So, here’s what I would tell everybody if we were doing Christmas cards!

Here’s what I would have shared if we sent out Christmas cards this year!

We started the year with a couple of babies. Mason wasn’t even one. And, looking back at pictures from the beginning of 2018 now, Easton looks like a baby. Mason turned one in February. And, started walking shortly after. Easton continued to amaze us with how smart he was. And, challenge us with how three he was.

John found his rhythm in the his new section of the lab, Microbiology. He stayed consistent at the gym; waking up every morning at 3:40 to be done in time for work. And, saw more movies than I could count. Rarely missing his Saturday movie and Chipotle date he held with himself. His knee is still numb from his surgery last year. But, he is getting  more comfortable, and hit the basketball court again.

I’ve been working with the same family since 2016. In between the same load of laundry, dishes, and chaos of part-time Nanny/Mom life with five little boys I found a passion for Barre. I didn’t meet any of my New Year’s resolutions. And, spent a lot of the year feeling stuck in a rut. I’m excited to purse a career as a fitness instructor. As, I will be starting the new year as a Certified Barre Instructor.

A lot of this year felt unworthy of share. There was a lot of day-to-day mundane in the last 357 days. We watched a lot of TV. The Office twice through. Brooklyn99. Finally, finished the original nine seasons of The X files. And, FRIENDS duh. And, then I watched a handful of series once everybody was asleep. Have you seen Grace and Frankie or The Mindy Project?! We laughed a lot. Survived two 17.5 hour car rides with the littles. Had Alexa dance parties. Listened to four-year old jokes with terrible punch lines, that still make you belly laugh. Listened as baby gurgles turn into full on “I love you most Mommy”s.

2018 wasn’t a year that made for a long Christmas card. I took over a thousand pictures of these sweet little blondes. But, there was a whole lot “nothing”. A whole lot of the same laundry. The same dirty dishes. The same food fights. And, time outs… now times two. But, in the day-to-day there was so much love. So much happiness. Blessings. Joy.  I didn’t lose the baby weight. Or, magically learn to cut the budget while still eating Organic food. I didn’t make a penny from this blog. And, I quit writing in my 2018 journal before February hit, per usual. 2018 wasn’t picture perfect. It was perfectly imperfect though. As exhausting and monotonous as being Mom can be, it’s been another year of having my heart literally growing every day and running around in the form of two little crazy boys. I’ve smiled. And, said I love you so much. “I could eat you up” more times than I can even begin to count. Even if I did lock myself in my bedroom just to get somebody from climbing on my head at least 100 times…

Do I have goals for 2019? Do I dream of getting down to 130. And, earning a full-time income? Of course! But, most importantly I’m just excited to keep doing the day-to-day with these sweet boys of mine. I can’t wait to explore Alaska with them. To watch them play in the snow. And, all the new opportunities a new place will hold. But, mostly I can’t wait to laugh as Easton cracks a joke that doesn’t make sense. To dance to Born To Love You with two heavy little boys fighting for my hands. I can’t wait to continue to wake up frustrated and off the bed, because they snuck back in for middle of the night snuggles again. I can’t wait to spend another year laughing until I cry, or sitting in the living room just being with each other, with my whole world.
All the other stuff sure would be nice though! 😏

Merry Christmas from the Ronans!
